Wow! What an amazing evening we had at our Senior Adult Banquet. It was such an privilege to honor our Senior Adults from the community. In a day and age where many may have a tendency to at times slight our Senior Adults or not see the value in honoring those who have paved the way for us, we believe that our Senior Adults are "Vital" and "Valuable" to God, the church and to this generation.
My mind goes back to the story of Caleb. A great man of faith. He was one of only two adult men from his generation to enter the promised land because he believed God was one who would do what He said. God said of Caleb "because my servant Caleb has a different spirit and follows me wholeheartedly, I will bring him into the land he went to, and his descendants will inherit it." (Numbers 14:24).
Caleb was 40 years old when he spied out the promised land, and after wandering the desert with all of Israel for 45 years, and his faith remained steadfast. 45 years later as they are entering the promise land of God, he said: "Just as the LORD promised, he has kept me alive for forty-five years ... so here I am today, eighty-five years old!", "I am still as strong today as the day Moses sent me out; I'm just as vigorous to go out to battle now as I was then.", "Now give me the mountain!
Our Seniors are leaders in faith, battle hardened believers, who have seen God do the amazing, and we have so much to learn from them.
Our evening was definitely amazing, with wonderful worship led by Paul Thompson and Lawrence Osborne, and our special speaker Lola Bushhorn shared an "on time" word about choosing to be "Bitter or Gracious", and our youth did an amazing job of serving and honoring them. Thank you to all who attended, we are so blessed to share this Christian walk with you all! Thank you for paving the way, and know that just as in Caleb's case, age does not prevent you from continuing to do "Epic" things for God.
We love you all!
